Since he was 12 years old, Alain Bourbonnais has always been drawing. His first travel sketches, drawings made with lead pencil, Indian ink and colored inks are dated for the earliest from 1945. At the beginning of the 1960, he goes into painting. After a first series of paintings of a rather classical style, Alain Bourbonnais experiments mixed techniques from 1963 to 1975.
At first, by combining oils with pigments, with the effects of dilution of the paint, then obtaining a random result. Little by little, his pictorial practice invaded all supports : canvases were replaced by doors, pigments by various materials. These “peintures-assemblages” (relief paintings), announce the future creations in volume of Turbulents.
